Pick Your Korea helps international visitors choose a base in South Korea. Eight questions connect what you enjoy with how much time you have and how you want to travel.
Research comes first.
The Korea Tourism Organization’s 2025 Potential Visitors to Korea Survey, published on 19 May 2026, identifies Seoul, Busan, Jeju, Incheon and Gangwon as its five leading intended-visit regions. It studies overseas travel intentions, not a ranking of satisfaction after a visit. The publisher describes it as a non-approved statistical report and notes methodology changes that affect year-to-year comparison.
We used those five regions as anchors, with Gangneung as a practical rail-connected base in Gangwon. We added seven cities for rail access and distinct travel experiences. These twelve destinations are our editorial shortlist, not an official KTO top-twelve city ranking. A province’s position is not assigned to an individual city.
Domestic summer-holiday satisfaction rankings are not used in this version. Places requiring more complicated transfers, including Inje and Jindo, are outside this initial international-visitor shortlist.

How your answers become a match.
- Respect travel choices. Both mainland-only answers remove Jeju before scoring. Bus- and taxi-dependent routes are explained in the result.
- Compare active preferences. We assign each destination an editorial affinity from 0 (weak) to 4 (strong) for each answer. Question weights are: experience 8, stay length 14, transport 12, daytime focus 30, food 16, evenings 12 and spending style 8.
- Let your priority matter. The last question offers only the explicit day, food, evening and spending preferences you chose. Choosing one adds 12 to that question’s weight; choosing balance adds nothing.
- Keep uncertainty visible. Flexible answers add zero points and leave the possible total. Equal top scores remain joint recommendations. Leaving everything open produces an unranked set of options.
Points = affinity ÷ 4 × question weight, with the priority weight added only to the chosen question. Popularity is not a score bonus. The fit is a planning judgement, not a probability, hotel-rate guarantee or satisfaction forecast. All eligible scores are available inside each result.
What to check before travelling.
This first version does not know your arrival airport, current location, dates, party needs or accessibility requirements. A one-night answer means one night at the destination, not a day-trip radius from Seoul. Recommended nights are editorial suggestions. Check the full journey, walking distances, opening days and current accommodation prices before booking.

Answers are held in this page’s memory. Pick Your Korea does not save them to an account, cookie or browser storage, and does not send them to the KBO app. Reloading clears them. External map, research and KBO links open their own pages. Typefaces are requested from Google Fonts; system fonts are used if unavailable.
The travel artwork was generated with GPT image generation. Each of the twelve destinations has its own illustration inspired by local landmarks; the quiz cover combines a broader Korean journey.
