The Korea Forest Service release uses a 50% foliage criterion and gives earlier dates for the three mountains below. The map keeps the explicitly identified Weatheri series; compare both before choosing a trip. Neither source predicts the exact color on your walking route.

Autumn sales cover 23 Oct–15 Nov; this is a ticket period, not a peak-color forecast. Garden-only adult admission (19–64): ₩11,000. Separate monorail fares: ₩5,000 (1→2), ₩7,000 (1→3), ₩9,000 (loop). Additional monorail products opened 17 Sep, 13:00 KST.
NOL membership is required. Overseas phone/card acceptance and autumn ticket availability are unverified here. Secure a dated admission voucher before arranging transport. Do not assume a foreign passport guarantees walk-in entry.

Hallasan summit trails
Reserve the trail, then your day
Seongpanak and Gwaneumsa use the official reservation system. The Korean rule opens next-month slots at 09:00 on the first working day of the preceding month. For November, plan to check 1 Oct, 09:00 KST, unless a new notice changes the release.
The 18 Sep notice schedules Gwaneumsa’s summit section to reopen 24 Sep at 05:00; reservations resumed 21 Sep at 09:00. October booking is already under way. On 22 Sep, this reopening is still scheduled, not completed. Recheck the latest notice and your route before hiking.

Choose a weekday when possible. Allow time for the last local bus, queues and an early sunset. Stay in Sokcho for a less rushed Seoraksan visit.
Pack for changing weather
Bring a warm layer, windproof or rain shell, grippy shoes, water and a charged power bank. Pack trail snacks where permitted; Hwadam restricts outside food, picnic mats and tripods.
Make the return trip first
Save the trailhead’s Korean name and your accommodation address. Check the last bus before starting; download useful route information while connected.
Have a nearby Plan B
Wind stops a cable car? Walk a lower valley if trails are open. Hwadam sold out? Try a Seoul park. Rain or closures? Switch to a museum and move the outdoor day.
